Do you feel that you’re floating or spinning in your recovery?
Maybe it feels as if it’s not quite as bad as it used to be but you’re also not where you want to be?
Does it seem that you lack momentum in your recovery and are just coasting?
If this sounds familiar and is something you’re going through, I want to encourage you :
- This is completely normal
- Don’t fall into the temptation of calling yourself names (unmotivated, lazy, etc).
Instead, I want you to consider the bigger picture of why things feel hard.
Maybe it’s beginning to work through past circumstances or unprocessed trauma?
It could also be worries about our personal lives or even the greater world around us.
Whatever the case may be, it’s important to acknowledge what is going on in your nervous system and allow yourself grace.
Some days you may only be able to put one foot in front of the other.
That’s okay.
Floating and spinning or lack of momentum doesn’t have to equal your recovery being derailed.
It’s important to remember that you don’t always have to like the work or enjoy it. It’s more important to just keep doing the next right thing in your recovery.
