Binging isn’t the worst possible thing you could do. There I said it. Did you know that binging is a tool? Many times seeing binge eating as the worst possible thing we could do only perpetuates the problem. You cannot hate or shame yourself into doing something different.
So let’s reframe binging. Let’s see it as a tool rather than a failure on our part. Let’s be a compassionate and curious witness to our binge. Are we deprived in any way? Are we needing to settle ourselves because we’re experiencing fight or flight? Are we digging ourselves out of numbness or looking to numb?
All of these are questions to consider as we look at binging and reframing how we’ve seen it.
