One of my great joys is teaching. I love sharing my personal and professional experience to support others' growth and desire to help others.
I offer training for dietitians, soon-to-be dietitians and coaches who are interested in deepening their non-diet coaching skills, learning to hold non-judgmental, loving space for people to build safety so that transformation is possible.
For dietitians and soon-to-be dietitians, training also includes coaching and supervision for working with people desiring freedom from disordered eating.
I am excited to be offering a 3 month group intensive to help non-diet professionals hone their skills in non-diet, attuned counseling skills to elicit and help clients feel safe in going deeper than just reporting on their food but helping them navigate their fears of moving away from diets.
Are you an RD,RD-to-be or a non diet coach interested in working with people wanting to be free of diets, body image concerns and disordered eating? Whether you are just starting out or are firmly rooted in the dismantling of diet culture, this work can come with questions.
Am I helping people?
Did I say that right?
What do I do when..?
They can’t let go of wanting to lose weight; what now?
And even if you feel solid in working with people, it can be lonely on an island by yourself, week in and out. Sometimes waiting for the phone to ring.
As a somatic nutrition therapist and eating disorder specialist for the last 11 years, I’ve been lucky to receive amazing training in a variety of treatment areas (MI,CBT,ACT, interpersonal work, somatic work and learn how to do it from the angle of a dietitian) as well as lean on my own recovery and intuition to be honored to help hundreds of people recover from diet trauma, body dissatisfaction and disordered eating.
Teaching and empowering are what I do and I want to see more of what we do in the world, which is why I am opening the doors and gathering professionals who want more….
Confidence in their skills
Courage to take risks to help your clients be willing to take risks
Compassion and to know when to tip-toe and when to okay, “ do this”
Reassurance that they are on the right track in coaching and counseling their clients
I am here because I was inspired to break free from what was the norm….. Without that RD putting herself out there with her non diet mentality 20 years ago, I wouldn’t have gotten to help so many and it’s time for me to do the same and pass on this inspiration and willingness to take risks that will enrich not only our own lives but of those whom we serve.
What I teach people is the HOW of doing client work, which includes:
Doing a thorough Assessment and flow of sessions
how to treat AN, BN, BED and diet trauma
teach IE in depth,
work with body image
recognize early attachment issues, trauma and how to work in your scope with those issues,
counseling skills include MI, body tracking/reflecting,
how to build good relationships so you build trust,
how to deal with difficult situations,
systemic diet culture awareness and working with our blind spots (we haven’t been in everybody’s shoes) ,
doing your own inner work,
Working with a team
what to do when you get stuck, etc
sticking to your own voice when you do your outreach work,
getting clear about what kinds of clients you like working with, etc.
Basics of business
Plus much more!
I know the scope of how you use this training will vary depending on where you are in your journey, credentials, etc of and who you will work with, but these principles carry over throughout the spectrum of eating concerns

What people are saying about this training......
Working with Tracy Brown has helped me tremendously, both professionally and personally.
Personally, she held space for me to voice my fears about food and body and teased fears out of me that I didn't even know I had based on what we were talking about.
She gave me full permission to be a messy human (because all humans are messy) and to let go of perfectionist ideas around food and body. She helped me to heal from my "healthism" and helped me fully put to rest the need to incorporate every new health fad that I saw. She helped me see that by judging my food as healthy or not was keeping me as stuck in diet mentality as worrying about weight. She helped me really get to the place of ease around food where noticing and questioning and curiosity are key.
Professionally, she is a master at modeling how to talk with a client so they end up telling you the answers to their problems instead of you feeling like you need to figure it out and tell them. Tracy has an artful way of posing questions that comforts and soothes while at the same time provokes the kind of reflection that often causes light bulbs to go off and epiphanies to occur. And even though there is a lot of deep thought and feeling going on, Tracy brings you through it all with such gentleness and care that you always feel safe and supported.
I highly recommend working with Tracy. I will always be grateful for the additional layers she helped me peel away with regard to my own relationship with food and body and for the wisdom and guidance she has given me with regard to how I relate to clients. I look forward to working with her more in the future. ~ Elizabeth Hall, Intuitive Eating Coach
I came to Tracy at a vulnerable moment, both personally and professionally. She is warm, wise and safe and I felt immediately at ease. I've always been deeply attuned to my clients but with Tracy, I am learning to be ever more attuned to myself. Since we always teach what we most need to practice, this has been an invaluable gift both to myself and in my work with others. The skills of intuitive eating and somatic/trauma resolution work were not new concepts but I've gained a much deeper trust in the process and a greater confidence in sharing that work with others. I feel inspired and galvanized to continue in this critical healing work.
Molly Larkin, RN, Life Coach
Coming in 2018 I will be offering a 5 month training intensive on IE, HAES, decoding body image preoccupation and includes cutting edge somatic tools to assist clients out of chronic stress, shutdown and more vitality in their bodies.
